When you read the band name it seems kind of sharp and edgy, and distant shores seems to indicate something more exciting as well. Perhaps even with a dream, and a faraway gaze, something like that. But like the dull predecessor I reviewed last year it doesn’t look particularly interesting on the cover side, and to be honest it isn’t interesting inside the cover either.

Fairly typical melodic rock music, AOR, with the typical selection of songs. The vocalist might be slightly more annoying than most in the genre, the production is pretty average. There is nothing that stands out about this release, it sounds like anything else that we have heard. I don’t think that it is exciting at all. At least the playing time is kept relatively sensible, but the lack of idea, dynamics, and variation still makes it seem a tad on the long side.

A few fresh ideas wouldn’t have been negative for this album, a few more daring or good songs wouldn’t either. The problem is that this album doesn’t really contain anything particularly exciting, it just is one of those albums that mostly make up the numbers and don’t really contribute anything of value. I find that I mostly wait for it to end when playing Distant shores, perhaps dreaming myself away to some of those far away shores where the warm breezes makes life a lot more fun that it is today.

You can skip this one, you will not miss anything of value. I tend to wonder why labels want to release this kind of stuff, is it so that they make enough money on these uninteresting albums they release that it is worth it. I’d rather see fewer but better releases, but that is probably hoping too much. This album is a waste of time and not worth the effort.
