They Never Come Back, but Allison did come back after a quarter of a century. It is an album that was originally released in 2020, and now gets a more major release by Massacre Records. They have a nice logo and a cover with some punch, simple and effective, makes for an interesting-looking release. So, the Swiss band shows promise, but has the album been worth the wait for all the fans that has been hoping for something new for 25 years?

Classic bluesy hardrock, simple and straightforward. It is a female fronted album, and the singer Janet has a very distinctive and personal voice which makes this album stand out a little bit despite not really being stylistically different. I guess her style can be an acquired taste as she has a bit of a nasal voice and such, but it fits the band’s style perfectly, and clearly lifts the quality and personality of this album. It stands out thanks to this style of vocals, kudos to production for lifting this in an otherwise fairly typical sounding album.

Really good album with strong songs and good energy, but it is the great vocals that really makes this album stand out – both in terms of the personal vocal style but also because it lifts the songs to a higher level. The backside is that we aren’t offered anything unique or original, but thanks to the voice this album sounds different and fresh despite not offering anything we haven’t heard before. I would claim that it is a solid album that is lifted to a higher level thanks to Janet La Rose.

I recommend checking out this one, Allison comes back with a bang of a punch and they strike twice with They Never Come Back. If you like classic and straightforward hardrock you shouldn’t miss this one, it is great. It should be appealing to most and it shows that you can make exciting stuff without and still not deviate from the established paths, Allison has brought us a great album.
