They have metal in their heads, and they have had it for many years now. The demo Legion of Doom came already in 1991 and the debut album was released in 1995, this album makes it a dozen. It certainly looks like an album by Wizard, a band that has both some great albums and some not-so-great ones. Now we are looking at what kind of metal we find in the heads of the German wizard, can there be some surprises?

No, there are no surprises, we get what we expect. The heavy metal, the powerful heavy metal with the powerful voice and that sort of things. The power chords and the choruses with choirs, we get all that we usually get from Wizard in the usual variation, no real surprises here. And perhaps we aren’t supposed to get any, if we are fans we probably don’t want them anyway – but I want and I find this album to be somewhat drab from the creative standpoint, they have already done eleven of these, what is the point of another one?

In the press sheet I read that they “return to their roots in terms of the songwriting and deliver pure fucking heavy metal galore”, did they even venture from their roots? I don’t think they ever did, if you compare what they did in 1995 with today, you will not really see that much of a difference, the production has improved but the style is the same – the songs are the same. Nothing negative in that, this is a good album with some great songs like the title to mention one. I have liked listening to it and cannot really be too negative about it when it is this good. Still, I think they have done albums that are better than this one.

If you like Wizard it would be a clever choice to check out this album, it will almost certainly appeal to you. To me it is enjoyable for a while, but it isn’t an album that makes much of a mark in the scrolls of music history. They have done both better and worse albums over their decades, and it will not disappoint the Wizard fans. So, if you are one of those fans it could be a good choice to buy a vinyl copy of this one.
