How great isn’t it to put the dots over letters? So many metal bands do it as it is so clever and feels so original, just look at the great like Irön Mäiden, Bläck Säbbath, Fätes Wärning, Metallicä, and many more. And Ultra Raptor, sounds like a B-movie, you know those with horrific acting, terrible scripts, and awful cinematography, like Sharknado and whatever else they are called. It is kind of amusing with such names. The thing about these Dinosaur guys who figured they should call themselves Ultra Raptor and do a song about Dinosaurs and Cadillacs is that it is hard to know if they take themselves seriously or not. Kind of like Mänöwär. Bands that make ironic warrior metal like Freedom Call’s terrific first couple of albums, are terrific. But it is mostly terrific when it is very obvious that they are just doing it for fun while you cannot really say with these guys.

I hope this is for fun because the cover art becomes a bit tragic if it is considered fitting for something serious, as do the song titles. The music is quite sterile, a bit roughly edged heavy metal with speedy influences. Nothing original. I guess the names of the band are invented, otherwise it is a strange connection that they have singer named Lung and a Raptor in the band. By the way, I don’t think that singer Lung is particularly impressive. In fact, that whole package feels a bit cheap. It sounds like something the quintet from Quebec in Cänädä found on an archeologial dig outside of Gent in Belgium, something from the Jurassic period perhaps.

There are no impressive songs, no original ideas, the cadillacs and the dinosaurs have been in the metal music before, the style is far from fresh. Still, it could be good without originality, but then you need to offer something else, undeniable quality or personality, something that makes your music stand out – they do not do that. The songs are average at best, the style is boring, the ideas lack the bite we see from the leading character on the cover. Shouldn’t we expect more from something bare breasted with a dinosaur on the cover? I think we should.

Böring, could be how they would spell it themselves. It isn’t really an album I think one needs to spend time checking out, there is no reward for that invested time. Just another cheap and average, flat, heavy metal album, kind of the B-movie equivalent of heavy metal music. Ridiculous, a bit sad, and not really worth your while.
