R.D. Lipakis and his men are back with a new album; they’ve had a break for two years but are now back picking up their killhammers to go out with their War Brigade. It is their ninth chapter and it certainly looks the part. But can it play the part? Mystic Prophecy have certainly delivered quality stuff in the past, all the albums we have reviewed have gotten good reviews, especially Ravenlord that got six points which is a rating not many albums receive from us. So, it is not without some expectations I take on this new release by this Mystic Prophecy.

Musically it offers more or less what we have come to expect from these guys, heavy metal with energy and power, R.D. Lipakis’ characteristic slightly hoarse voice crowns it all. The production is excellent, great sound and energy from these guys. And the variation keeps it all interesting from the opening track to the ending cover track that feels like a rather funny choice. The album is also short and to the point, playing for less than fifty minutes if you get the digipak version that has the ending cover making the track count a dozen. I think that we can conclude that this is a high quality production.

I like this album, I think that it is great. The songs are excellent, the performances are equally excellent but some would argue that they do what they have already done a few times over now and that would not be wrong. It still feels quite fresh and interesting, and as they have such brilliant songs it becomes a great album that I enjoy listening to. Maybe not as good as Ravenlord but really good anyway and I would say that this is a really great and solid effort from these guys.

All the tracks are really good and none of them really stand out, or maybe the ending cover track does as it feels a little bit different in relation to the others and is an interesting choice. It is a quite sexy album, and I can recommend it to anyone into heavy metal music – it is really good, be sure to check it out.
