Consider yourself welcome to the foodchain, this cavey group of creatures want to eat you. It is the fifth album by the group of troglodytes that are quite inspired by Bigfoot, and perhaps they are outside looking for big footprints when they aren’t recording albums that touch that subject matter. The new album has a very long title that I don’t feel like writing, and it has a pretty dreary looking artwork – thing is that they sound like the artwork indicates.

Primitive death metal, quite old-school and brutal. The voice is like it was from Predator or something like that. The riffs are heavy, the production feels a bit like a mouldy cave production, there isn’t much in terms of fresh ideas when it comes to the music offered by Troglodyte. So, you will not be surprised by anything roaring or whatever by these guys, not even when a bigfoot creeps into the songs. And that they aren’t varied is obvious when less than half an hour feels like a long time, it usually isn’t.

If you like stuff that is primitive, something fitting for a troglodyte, there is a decent chance that you will find this one a good selection as well. If you want fresher ideas and things like that, then it is probably not something you would like. This isn’t exactly an album that offer anything particularly dramatic or interesting, it is just another death metal release with all the growly vocals and heavy stuff it usually entails.

It is hard to see who this album is for, who will be appealed by what Troglodyte has to offer? I am not sure I see anyone; chances of success are probably slim for this band. But maybe they are all about keeping out of sight and just deliver their caveman brutality to a very select few.
