When looking at the snow and all that crap outside, it is hard not to dream of endless summer nights. Those summer nights that Tony Mitchell sings about perhaps, but the Australian artist doesn’t wow us with an impressive artwork for this new album. It is his third album, I did listen once to the previous but never had the time to explore or review it, but I recall that I didn’t like it that much. So, what about this one, does it make you forget the winter and imagine enjoying those endless summer nights?

Melodic rock or AOR is the label you can set on this, perhaps not a surprise considering the label that only release those kinds of albums. It is not as crisply produced or polished as we often hear in a similar genre, neither is singer Mitchell a particularly impressive vocalist. In a way this sounds like a budget production from the seventies. And on top of that the album as endless in terms of playing time with nearly a full hour required to play through the whole thing, no matter how you look at that it is too long.

Why should we listen to this album? It is not for the amazing hit potential, sure there are some catchy choruses and songs here, but as a whole it is bland, and no song strikes me as memorable. Add to that a weak vocalist and you aren’t left with a recipe for success, November 2021 wasn’t great for the label. For each time I listen to this album I have a harder time seeing anything positive about it, it is an endless album with dreary songs and poor vocalis, weak production, what is left to like? The fact that it isn’t bad? Is that really a good argument in favour of this album? About 70-80% of the albums released are not bad, most of them are still uninteresting.

The endless summer nights have way more to offer than this album, the sounds of the forest in the summer night are way more appealing for example. Why should you buy something that is average at best? I don’t really see any arguments in favour of this one, and I am not surprised if the label alone has released half a dozen albums better than this since the release of this one. Honestly, I cannot see any good arguments to care for this album, it is too uninteresting to make any valid impression.
