It was four years since the last time Black Light White Light released their latest album Horizon and now they come with their new one called The Admirer. I read that the previous album was internationally praised, I can’t find much in terms of reviews for this new one though. I read in the press material that their style is psychedelic rock, cosmic pop, and that this new album is their most versatile album yet. Does that mean an incoherent album?

And it is a varied album within the psychedelic rock album that also draws influences from a large variety of style with dreamy spaced out cosmic pop as the most prevalent of those influences. The Admirer has a good production, good sound, good vocals, though I am not a huge fan of the chorus they have in Swedish, but that is probably more down to pronunciation than the vocal prowess of the singer. I think the album is a dreamy one, and some might argue that it lacks a bit of bite.

Overall I find this album to be rather good, it has good songs and is fairly enjoyable to listen to. Though I find that I think it is missing a strong or standout hit song, Epilepsy is my favourite song and it is strong but I don’t think it is a very memorable song. And that about memorability goes for the whole album in my opinion, it is good but not very memorable.

In the end I find this to be an album that would be worth checking out if you are a fan of the band or the psychedelic rock style of music. It might not make much of a mark on the general music scene, but it is a nice album to listen to for a little while.
