Trick or Treat have gathered up some B-sides and stuff from their career now spanning over about two decades, and that becomes The Unlocked Songs. I think that it is good that they rather than doing a simple best-of release gather materials we might not have heard and enlarge their musical treasure some more, I say treasure as the albums I have reviewed from them are really strong. They seem know that power metal is a pretty ridiculous thing and is usually better when not taken too seriously, and I get that impression from their earlier stuff but also this one with some titles that has a funny twist.

Good thing that they do some singing in their native Italian tongue as well, that adds some good variation and depth to the album. It is melodic power metal, like what the band has done before, with guest appearances by André Matos and Donald Duck they add some additional cred to the album as well. The songs are usually catchy and the track Heavy Metal Bunga Bunga kind of describes the style of the band, funny twists, great melodies, strong vocals, and good variation; 56 minutes don’t seem too long when it comes to this album.

This is an enjoyable album that brings us plenty of strong tracks like Evil Needs Christmas Too, and Heavy Metal Bunga Bunga are probably the biggest highlights, but all the tracks are really strong. I like that they sing quite a few songs in Italian, that adds some spice to the album. I really like that they don’t seem to take themselves too seriously, perhaps they understand how ridiculous the power metal genre is and give us some silly stuff and that is great.

I recommend you have a look at this one, this is power metal as it should be. A band not taking themselves too seriously and makes great music with really enjoyable tracks, and that makes this album one of the finest in the genre in 2021. I think you ought to get this one, it is great power metal.
