It is the second album for Phantom Elite, the first one on the Frontiers label. The band that was founded by After Forever’s Sander Gommans and vocalist Marina La Torraca has put together an album that seems to have been well received by most reviewers online. Perhaps not the most revealing thing as internet reviewers mostly overrate albums for some reason, but the numbers were quite large as well and that usually indicates that the album is well liked. I note that the cover looks good, and then that it was released quite a while ago, probably another reason for the multitude of reviews and videos. So, what about the album then, is it any good?

It is female fronted bombastic metal in the style of bands like Nightwish or After Forever, I think you can compare them to quite a few bands actually as their style isn’t particularly unique. They do have a fresh sound though, and singer Marina has an excellent voice to give the songs life. The production is top notch, one of the best I have heard when it comes to sound, it is powerful, bombastic and nuanced in a very good way. The variation is good as well, making the playing time of almost fifty minutes fly away. It is songs that are pretty complex, and still it is a very accessible album that shows plenty of hit potential.

Titanium is a great album, with songs that are quite excellent. I would say that it is one of the better releases in the genre I have heard in a while, it is one of those albums that are accessible yet offers quite a bit of depth. You will discover new aspects of the songs each time you play them, it is an album you can play many times over without growing tired with it. I think the tracks that most stand out are the title track and the one called Diamonds and Dark, but all the tracks are good so the favourite may vary depending on what day it and so on. There is great hit potential throughout the album, it is an excellent album.

Phantom Elite have put together a great album, one that I think that you should take a closer look at. It is quite enjoyable to listen to this album, and it is possible that it will end up on the top lists of 2021 considering that the year so far hasn’t been filled with great albums. Titanium offers great quality, and I can recommend it to anyone who are into the female fronted metal, or just great music in general. You will not regret getting this album, it is quite impressive.
