It has been a while since we last heard from Stormhunter, their latest effort before this one was released in 2014. I reviewed their album Crime and Punishment in 2011, can’t say that it made a massive impact, so what about this new one. It seems that they are either ready to board something or they are ready to make something naughty in an ice hockey game. What I do know is that the artwork isn’t very impressive, and that the EP called Ready for Boarding contains four tracks.

It is a quick process to play the four tracks that makes this EP, a bit too quick perhaps as I think they could have given us a little more than somewhere around a quarter hour of music. The songs are fast paced and energetic, simple and rough, gruff vocals and that sort of thing. Decent variation through those songs, and for the first time they have a cover song, it is the Trust song Antisocial they are offering.

This EP is pretty good, relatively enjoyable with pacey songs and energy, I like it. I think the cover Antisocial is pretty great, the lyrics in French and the energy makes for some fine enjoyment. Two Beers (or not Two Beers) is another fine and catchy songs, and isn’t the title is a nod to the literary world, probably.

It is a short release so the text is also short, and I can conclude that it is a fairly enjoyable one but probably not the most impressive one ever. Fans of the previous works of the band and those into the simpler and almost punkier heavy metal stuff should probably have a look at this one. I could want some more, and they should do more songs in French.
