Parallel Love is the second album by the British band that calls itself Atlas, their first album was released in 2018. Compared with that album this one is said to be more concise and they have gone for a heavier edge this time. They haven’t gone for a great cover; it looks quite unimpressive. But what about the music, is it as unremarkable as the artwork or is it more exciting?

It is classic melodic rock or AOR, it is creatively nothing outstanding or impressive. Actually, it is a pretty generic production overall, generic vocalist and a song selection that completely fails to surprise – there is no novelty about this album. It is an album that feels a bit diluted, without depth and fresh ideas. We get the usual variation of songs, but I have to say that the playing time of around fifty minutes is way too much, for most albums and certainly for this one.

This one is actually pretty unimpressive, pretty ordinary, generic, or whatever similar description you would like to use. It is one of those albums where one asks oneself why it was made, who is it for? Why release something that is this generic? Those are thoughts I have when playing through this album, it is okay for some lazy listening but the memorability is nothing and there are no hit songs – nothing impressive whatsoever. So, who will find this one agreeable?

I don’t know that, but perhaps the fans of the genre might find the album a good one, though I wouldn’t count on that. There are just so many better choices in this genre, and overall, that this one, so why get this one? I cannot really think of a good reason.
