Edenbridge has been around for a while, I have been following them since their earliest days but less in the last couple of years when they have not been on labels that we haven’t received promos from. I reviewed their album Solitaire in 2010 and not I am writing about this new album Dynamind that according what I can deduce is their tenth studio album. It has a cover art that isn’t amongst the finest covers I have seen on an album by Edenbridge. But the cover, while nice, isn’t really the most important aspect when it comes to an album, so what about the music?

Female fronted melodic metal is what it is, with symphonic undertones and some progressive touches and almost a fairytale or movie feel to it. Sabine sings almost in a soprano way though not quite as good as some other similar vocalist but perfect for the style that Edenbridge performs. The album shows good variation over ten tracks, there is a bonus disk with instrumental versions as well but that was not included in the promo material and I guess that has to be seen as a bonus for curiosity reasons. They sound like Edenbridge does but with some fresh ideas and a fresh sound, they are still managing to renew themselves enough to avoid making something boring or unimaginative.

Dynamind is a really good album with excellent songs and no weaknesses, perhaps it is missing that outstanding magical track but there are ten great ones on the album so it isn’t that missed. Fans of the band will find this album most brilliant and it will probably be appreciated by most of the music fans. They do press the right buttons to make appealing and fresh music. Not quite good enough to be awarded one of our two highest rating but it is one of the best albums of 2019 so far.

Edenbridge are still making interesting and relevant music despite many albums and a long career. It is not all band that manages to reinvent themselves enough after such a long career and so many albums, therefore I tip my hat and recommend that you have a look at this album. I might buy it myself, if I can afford it. Great stuff Edenbridge!
