Suzi Quatro has no control this time around, at least if we are to read anything from the title of here new album. An album where she collaborated with her son a little bit, other than that not much was revealed of the creative process but judging by the music there might not have been a very extensive creative process. And I guess Suzi needs no real introduction either having been around in the world of music for over half a century, which is outstandingly impressive. And she is still very vital despite having passed the age of retirement, if I am that vital at that age I will be very surprised. But what about the music then, old people tends to favour old things, does Suzi do anything to refute that fact? I would say that she doesn’t.

Classic rock or hardrock, blues-rock, such things is what we get to hear when listening to this album. And I would describe it like seventies music with a fresher sound, perhaps with some modern touches but overall it feels a bit dated. Well produced and Suzi sings quite well, it is a very professional and solid production with decent variation and a sensible playing time. There are no surprises here; predictable is actually a pretty good way of describing it, it kind of sounds like it looks. Seeing the cover and the title almost gives away how the album sounds, and the songs.

Too good to be dismissed completely and too poor to be hailed as brilliant or any other superlative that would have looked good on a sticker on the album cover. I will have no such quotes but there are plenty of reviewers who love the kind of nostalgia on offer here and why not? Whatever floats your boat I guess, but you have to admit that doing the same thing as many others, including herself, has done isn’t that amazing or exciting. There is some musical excellence but overall I think the album balances somewhere very close to the middle of the scale without tipping in any direction. I can’t really say that it is an album that I will return to now that I have written these words.

She will not make her fans disappointed; they should buy this and not be disappointed. If you like the retro kind of rock and imagine that rock was better in the distant past you might also find this one worth your while. But to be honest, I don’t think that this album will make much of an impression on the world of music, there has been plenty of better albums released already this year and there will probably be many more to come as well.
