American rockers Billy Satellite have not been heard for a very long time, 1984 was when they released their debut album and since then we have heard nothing. Until now when the second album simply titled II is out, an album consisting of stuff they made back in the day but never released. Now AOR Heaven sees to it that the album finally sees the light of day, of course with a little remastered sound to make it a little bit more up to date – so if you check out the video and get a bit confused I can point out that it sounds better on the album.

Classic eighties sound, AOR, melodic rock, catchy choruses, typical vocals of this kind of music, strong melodies and whatever else you can add to list of superlatives that are being used to describe this kind of music. It is pretty typical of the genre in style and it sounds a little dated as well, kind of like a remastered album from the eighties. Not exactly the most original effort I have heard and the songs are the ones you can expect on an album like this, it is probably as predictable as the fans of the band or the genre would want it. It is also typical with ten tracks and just under 40 minutes of playing time, like it was made for vinyl.

Pretty good album all in all but hardly one that will go down in history as one of the great albums of musical history, I think that it will mostly appeal to fans of the genre or the band while the rest of us will find that it sounds more or less like everything else in the genre. I find it a little bit predictable and I find the album a being too good to be bad and too uninteresting to be good. It is a good album I cannot deny that but I doubt that it will make anything but the tiniest ripples of the surface, so it may be good but also uninteresting in the wider perspective.

The songs are all okay, neither of them stand out from a positive or negative viewpoint. Overall it is a decent album, it presses the right buttons and everything but it hardly stands out from the mainstream of this genre. If you are fans of the genre or the band you might find this very interesting, if your interest in the genre is more peripheral I doubt you will find this more than a good listen and then forget about it, kind of like I have done.
