Did you know that Scorpions changed their name to Greed and just released an album? I didn’t either.

Actually that statement is not entirely correct as Greed actually is a band of some guys from Sweden who has Scorpions older records on their walls as icons or something, I have no clue really but that is what I say here and no one will ever correct me as no one ever does.

As you have already deducted from my writing so far I think this record sounds a bit like Scorpions, and by that I mean their older material, not their new stuff like Wind of Change or whatever. This feels however, slowly subsides during the record and in the end it feels like it could have been a remaster on any old eighties hardrock band. They play typic eighties hardrock with fast riffs, and high pitched vocals that sound like it could have been made back than if it wasn’t for the more modern production.

I am not particularly fond of bands who play in the recycling genre like Iron Maiden or this band. Of course it is in line with the times but really, music is immaterial which means that new music does not affect any resources other than perhaps the creators mind. As everyone downloads music nowadays maybe it doesn’t matter as they just steal it. Anyways, recycling is bad.

I am not really saying that Greed is bad or greedy but I can tell you one thing they are not, they are not greedy for innovation or creativity which is usually an element rather important for aspiring musicians. Honestly, Greed are just not interesting enough to merit an interest for me, not interesting enough to buy.

Sure if you really adore older works by Scorpions you may actually enjoy this record or this band. If you don’t, then I don’t think you will have any use whatsoever of this record, it lacks fantasy, it lacks creativity and it has all been done before, many times.

They are not a bad band this Greed, at least not in the sense that you can actually listen to this record and it can be rather decent at the time. But in the end you find yourself underwhelmed and wanting to change the record, to play something that is way better. I would not even consider Greed being one of the hundred best bands in Sweden.

So what do I want? I want this record to be reviewed and put away in the dark archives where the records are usually not played anymore. And now it is.
