German rock/metal icons are back with a live album, well are soon to have a new studio album released but in expectation for that I think this review is a good timekiller in wait for that album.

As said it is a live album with all that ensures, like poorer sound and stuff due to the condition while recording live albums. This is no exception to that, it sounds more or less like the better produced live album and is in that order what you could expect from a band like Rage.

In sound, Rage has many faces like a thrashier face, a rockier, a symphonic and so on, but it is hard to describe rage in unity. This many faces also shows in this recording where we get our share from each and every one of them and I cannot say that anything is really missing in the set. I think all fans will get their share of favourite songs from the past and from the recent Speak of the Dead.

Still I could ask more from the Russian audience which seem a tad not excited about the show, and as it is a live album one can really wish to hear the crowd some more. The trio itself sounds more or less neutral about the show and they don’t reach the maximum peak of their performance, but they are quite good enough.

Sure, this is good and the mixture of songs is good and mixed between the new and the old. Sure it is not by any means perfect, but it isn’t horrible either. All in all I think it is a rather good album though a tad too long I would have preferred to see an album in the 14 songs range, but that was not the case.

All in all it is a good album.
But now I just wish I can get a copy of Carved in Stone soon.
