Arkadius and his Suidakra comes with a Wolfbite, and it is an album that is 1000 percent Suidakra and also Suidakra 2.0 according to the press material. The question whether or not you can reinvent yourself after 25 years and thirteen albums is posed in the same press material, and sure you can as that isn’t particularly exhaustive when it comes to cover all the angles in the avenues of music. Then of course it depends on how much you want to limit yourself but even for a band remaining within the same genre it should be more than possible. But it is not said that Suidakra exactly reinvent itself but rather combines their history along with some new touches into something of a fresh breeze, and with the sensation of a band having been reawakened through a fountain of youth. The labels reflections of course, so how about it?

Basically, the same celtic metal as they have offered through the many years of service, but with a fresher and more modern tone than their earliest works and more dynamic than the recent albums. Possibly their most complete album today with the folk music inspired extreme metal that spans a wide range of musical directions. The vocals are good, clear and growled, inspiring and interesting. Good production and variation with a sensible playing time. They may not be offering many surprises and the ones familiar with the band will certainly find the album quite familiar, but of course a lot fresher compared with the debut that was reissued last year.

Cool and good album with great songs and fresh sound, probably the best one I have heard by Suidakra, and they have been doing good albums before. I especially like the opening track and Resurgence that are the finest ones I hear on this one. Sure, the cynic will claim that there are no surprises, but sometimes a band works a career to improve and perfect the craft and when you finally do it right it will be excellent despite not really offering any surprises. You have to look a lot and carefully to find any flaws on this one, I think it is great and well worth giving some minutes of your time.

Doubtlessly an album that will go down well with Suidakra’s fans, but not only them as I think that it is an album with a rather wide appeal that should go down with many music fans. This Wolfbite is a lot more exciting that essences of lupines and other things from the past of these guys – I think it will be an album that is well worth your time.
