Their name means dejected and they are not so dejected that they aren’t releasing new albums. We were impressed by their latest studio offering so there were some hopes for this new one as well. Unveilance of Dark Matter is the title of this new offering and it contains eleven tracks of carefully crafted doomy extreme metal from a quartet that hasn’t exactly been releasing album in a rapid pace. They do take their time and that might be why they are quite an exciting band who make really exciting albums. So what about this one?

The style is dark doomy metal of the extreme variety like the death and the black metal with growly vocals and all that. They spice that up with progressive stuff and classic seventies rock elements, quite a diverse musical style that is often a slow and dark – the style is fitting to the band name. It is a relatively complex album and you need to take your time with it in order to get the best out of it, an album that demands something from the listener but if you give it attention you will be rewarded with a varied album that shows lots of depth. You will discover new elements for a long time when listening to these guys, and it is upliftingly dark and that is always worth enjoying.

I think this album is great, enjoyable to listen to with really strong song. Perhaps not the most easily accessible album but many great albums aren’t so that should not be a negative. In fact, I think that this album doesn’t have any weaknesses and it is great all the way from the opening to the ending tracks, even the playing time seems sensible. This is a must for anyone who have enjoyed what Moloken has done before and anyone who enjoy the darker sides of the metal genre, these guys are one of the strongest at providing darkness.

I don’t think you should miss out on this really fine album that I recommend you to check and enjoy. It might be the finest album these guys have done and they have done some fine albums in the past so that has to qualify as a decent achievement. Moloken is a very impressive band and this is a very impressive album, that will have to be the conclusion.
