Dominanz let the death enter for their third album; the Norwegian trio are looking to impress more than they have done so far. Hallowed has been fairly sceptical to their albums this far and given both previous albums 4/7. Noxious was apparently well celebrated, a metal site the press material refer to gave it 10/10. Anyone reading reviews on the web probably knows which and also knows that 10/10 there is like 5/7 at our site. The cover promises nothing, it looks about as dull as the ones on the previous two so if that is anything to go by it is not a great album this time around either.

Stylewise it is the same as before, they will not surprise those who already know the band. It is a bit dark and gothic, a bit black metal and extreme metal I think. The atmospheres are really good and powerful, but the songs are not very varied and I think you could describe the album as slightly monotonous and a bit long. The vocals are not great, mostly growled in a way that you often hear in the doom metal styles. I think that it sounds pretty much like the previous two albums they have in their discography, so there are no surprises from the Norwegian band.

I like the sound and the atmosphere but that is the only thing I like about this album, the songs are not very good. I don’t think the album is very impressive at all and it is probably even duller than the previous two albums they have released. Better variation and some faster songs would definitely have been beneficial for this album, this album that feels like a very boring and inconsequential album that can safely be overlooked by almost every metal fan. The only ones I think will find this album agreeable will be the ones that are already fans of the band.

I think that this is a pretty uninteresting album that fails to make use of the strong elements it offers, I guess you can claim that it falls quite flat on the face. Not even close to be a dominating force in the metal world of 2019, it is one of those albums that will appeal to a very select few and most of you who read this review will probably not be among those few.
