“Seriously: one of the cruellest crime in music business was going to happen. An incredible album kept under lock by stupid contractual troubles for two years and apparently never seeing the light was finally unleashed from the cage.” – That is how the mail for the press about this album starts, incredible and masterpiece are things they tell the press about this album. Grand words, and you could claim that it at least looks the part, pretty nice artwork. But what about this album? It is the debut of album of this band, a band that happens to be a trio from Sweden.

Their music is claimed to be blackened dark metal in the mail from the PR Agency and that is probably a good description of what you will hear. Black metal with atmospheric touches and some melodic senses with a rather dark theme, that along with rasping growly vocals is what this album seems to be all about. The production is pretty good, and the sound is nice but the albums feels a bit lacking in variation and depth as well as being quite long with a playing time nearing one hour.

I have been playing this album for about a dozen times now and despite that I don’t really feel like I know this album, it just passes by and leaves no lasting impression on my mind. I would say that it is a fairly dull album overall and not much of it brings any joy to me. I do however doubt I am their targeted audience and maybe fans of similar music will find this to be rather appealing, so if you are a fan of this kind of music you might now want to take my word too seriously. It is a nicely produced album, the singer is really daft and the atmosphere is very nice. There are some upsides with this album but to me the downsides come in greater numbers.

I am not very impressed, however some reviewers I have read have been so there is a chance that this actually is a fairly decent album even though it sounds like rubbish to me. So, if you are like myself in your musical tastes I don’t doubt that you should look elsewhere for your musical enjoyments, but if you enjoy the similar bands there is a chance that you will find this one appealing. To me it just doesn’t have the right fire burning in its soul.

HHHHHHH
