wake up!

A Killer’s Confession returns with their second album, our writer here acclaimed the first one here at Hallowed and the second one is definitely not worse. It is called The Indifference of Good Men, perhaps a reflection on the world of today where a few loud people set the agenda while the indifference of good men allow that to happen. That reflection might not be why the band gave their album such a title but it is described as a journey to the edge of insanity and back and as equal parts beauty and insanity, kind of like our world today.

The Indifference of Good Men gives us thirteen tracks where the ending is a raw demo version of the second track Numb, all in all we are give thirteen tracks an little over fifty minutes playing time. Modern metal, Nu Metal, Industrial and some other similar genre descriptions can be used for what we get to hear when listening to this album. The variation is pretty big, the vocals are good and varied, the production is good, the sound is really dynamic and powerful which brings energy and emotions to the songs. Compared with the previous album we get a logical sequel with more of everything, even minutes. It is a more powerful, better produced and more dynamic album.

I was thinking about rating this album six on our seven graded scale, a rare rating as any reader would know. In the end I opted against it though as I don’t think the album ends very well and could have done without the three last tracks. I am not saying that these tracks are bad, just not as great as the rest. Reanimated is my favourite of the album and it would have been really brilliant to end with that, but they don’t. I also like Numb and I Wish; these are close runners up to the best track of the album. An album that is a step up compared with the debut from 2017 and an album that I can recommend to anyone who enjoys his or her metal a little bit more fresh than another Iron Maiden copy that thinks it is 1983.

Impressive stuff overall and I recommend checking this one out, you will probably not be disappointed as it is one of the better musical purchases that you can do when it comes to albums released in 2019. A Killer’s Confession are really evolving into something very exciting and it is almost like I am looking forward to what they come up with next even though I still enjoy listening to The Indifference of Good Men several times a day. You should really have a look at this album.
