Today I am writing down some things about a CD I received in my mail along with a handwritten note, it was the one called Hellbound by the band Suffer the Pain. By using the Internet I have found out that the band Suffer the Pain hails from Västerås in Sweden and that they have done a few records before this one. It could be called an EP due to the short playing time but it has many tracks so I think I will call it an album.

I think it looks in a sense like extreme metal punk rockers Scarecrow, their graphics are quite similar and their music as well. I think this album seems like equal parts extreme metal with many black metal touches along and equal parts punk rock. Quite simplistic and straightforward with energy and decent power, but I think the sound is kind of low budget and some people can be set off by the way the vocals are overpowered by the rest of the soundscape. It has a kind of punkish DIY-feel to it, and it has plenty of power.

The energy they pound out is great and I think they mix the simple with the raw power of it. The songs are fairly good all the way through the album and I think this will go down well with those who like this kind of music. Some will probably not be too impressed with the way that it is mixed and the raw low budget feel to it, and I personally would have minded a slightly better production. Neither would I have minded a more hit-like song that would define the album and sort of draw me into it. Nevertheless, I think it is rather good and I really like the energy.

Short and to the point, both the album and this text that explains that if you like this kind of extreme metal punkrock you should have a look at this album.
