These lucky bastards are releasing their fourth album called Be the One, and it is an album that is said to be all thrills and no fills – if you read the press material. And I found a review that supports it as well, giving the album 20 out of 20 something that has to be a too high rating considering that to my knowledge no album is that great. This would be the first if the band’s music that they describe as “Double-Kick Engine Rock’n’Roll” is good enough, which it isn’t. The Italian quartet offers ten tracks and about fifty minutes of solid rock music, nothing outstanding or fantastic despite the great production by Simone Mularoni.

The sound is the strong point for this high-energy heavy rock band, their music is quite heavy and quite energetic and when the tempo is high it is quite entertaining. It is an album that offer no real surprises, a pretty average heavy rock singer and the expected selection of songs with the obligatory rock ballad just to fill out the minutes a bit. I think the album feels a bit on the long side, they could easily have done away with some of the fillers that the press info claims they don’t have.

The lower tempo parts are quite weak on this album, I understand the reason for them and they are needed on any album, as you cannot just make an album with fast songs, it gets very static. The problem is that these guys doesn’t pull off rock ballads or even songs that go down in tempo, I think it is really strong when the energy and tempo is high but quite boring when it goes down a bit. Perhaps the somewhat ordinary vocalist is a part of this problem has he hardly helps the songs to shine. Overall I find this album to be quite good but also quite forgettable, fans of this genre and this band probably disagree with that assessment but I doubt this album will have any kind of wide appeal.

To end I can conclude that you can obviously listen to this album, it has some appeal and the higher energy stuff is really good. Solid hard rock from a solid band, it is just that it all seems a tad average and in the end I highly doubt that this is an album that will make any kind of impression of the world of music. It is a good album but there are much better choices if you are looking for a new hard rock album.
