LLNN from Denmark offers a new album called Deads, an album with eight tracks and a relatively cool cover art. They are also said to be inspired by classic Sci-Fi soundtracks and things like that, keys inspired by the likes of Vangelis or Fiedel to name a few. And video games of the sci-fi/horros genre might also come to mind, perhaps Silent Hill or Halo to name just a few. And besides a dreary title like Deads I think it would appear that this is an album that might have something fascinating to offer us.

Like a soundtrack is probably one thing that comes to mind when listening to this album, it is built around atmosphere’s dark musical landscapes, it has the feel of a sci-fi soundtrack I think. The vocals aren’t really something one thinks about when listening but I think they sound rather good. Good production as well, and I think it has a good depth – it is quite interesting in many regards. The tracks number eight and they play for about 38 minutes, not a long album but it can feel quite long at times I think. I also think that there could have been a little bit more variation throughout the album.

Now that I have played through this album plenty of times I have found it to be rather good, it is like a musical journey through a dark sci-fi movie where you make up the story and those things yourself. And it is probably a good story as well. But after I have played through the album a few times I feel like there is something missing, something that really catches me as a listener. I cannot put my finger on what it is but there is something and in the end I find this album to be a little bit forgettable.

Not that I am unimpressed, I think that these guys are a really talented outfit and they do have some good ideas and make good music. Fans of the post metal genre our those you are drawn towards the Blade Runner soundtrack or Terminator soundtrack will probably find this album to be an attractive album well worth checking out. I think that Deads is a solid and good album, but I also think that I have heard better albums in this genre.
