Did it come from the outer space? The first album by Italian band No Good Advice? That is a good question, but it is probably not one that answers the questions on what to do if something actually comes from outer space, at least not with good advice. The band itself was founded in Turin 2012 and released their debut EP in 2015 and this is the album that starts everything, it has a cool artwork and songs about spacey things like monoliths, surfers in space and tears of the universe itself. It all sounds like something spacey and exciting.

The songs themselves from this outer space album are surprisingly down to earth, in the classic stoner rock/metal kind of way. Heavy and powerful riffs echo the corridors of the space ships that sets down on our planet for a dozen songs and close to an hour of music in that stoner rock/metal kind of way. Their superior technology that allows for interstellar travel does not bleed over to an album that shows much variation over the songs, which is unfortunate as it feels like they slightly overstay their welcome. One could expect something a bit more colourful and exciting from something outer spacey, but at least you do not want to drive them off the planet.

I am not sure I have much good advice to the potential connoisseur of this album, I think it is rather good but it is hardly Earth shattering or Earth changing like an invasion from space would be. It is just solid stuff that will appeal to those who like this kind of music, and I doubt that they will make that much impact. Perhaps it is a stealthy invasion and their ships come and disappear without anyone really noticing. The only ones with a clue are those directly affected by it, and they will probably find it rather appealing. I know I do.

In the end though I would not go to these guys for advice on handling the outer space stuff, but for a while of heavy and powerful music it is certainly a pretty good choice. And if your record shelf contains stuff by the similar bands it will be a very good advice to take a closer look at this one. And if you don’t like it, at least it looks quite cool. So lets end by saying: a good album that could be worth a look.
