The Downspiral to Hell is a great band name, and the title of their third album isn’t too bad either – long title that’s for sure. They start with a positive considering a great name and title. But name, title and cover is one thing, and what is behind all that is another and to be honest I don’t think the duo does that much to please the music crowds. They offer thirteen tracks but there is only one of them that can be described as acceptable in my view, and that is the intro.

The intro is different from the rest of the album with a more electronic melodic sense, and then it all goes down Black Metal Street – with some avant-garde and death metal touches. There are blackish growls that kind of suck and then we have some clean vocals where you can actually make out the words in difference to the black metal grunts. And while on the subjects of that thing and the songs, they all sounds kind of the same, except for the intro. And as all black metal sounds the same and I could just find two related bands when browsing the web I picked one two pointer in the extreme metal genre at random for the last of the similar bands.

I have to describe myself as unimpressed by what I hear when I listen to this album and the best feature of this album is that it isn’t longer than it really is. And it is difficult to really see a point, haven’t this been done to death already? Well, maybe that’s only me but I think this album is very poor and I really believe that more or less everyone will agree with what I think in this case. I don’t think anyone will survive many minutes past the intro.

It is a good title but a bad album; that is probably the easiest way to describe this album. The duo don’t really bring forth anything interesting or exciting just one more drab, dull and uninteresting black metal album that probably won’t appeal to many – and it is really a miracle that I have managed to play it more than half a time.
