È grande, è bellissimo, è meraviglioso – I find it fitting to start this review by describing this album in the band’s native tongue, Italian – you know what it means. This is their third album; it follows four years after their latest effort Immortalia, an album that was very well received by us when it was released. They have the same artist for the artwork like their previous efforts and this vertigo artwork looks quite exciting and it is the cover of a very exciting thing.

Sound Storm offers symphonic power metal with grand compositions, massive arrangements and everything you could possibly want from an album in this genre. Great sound, the production and the vocalist can be described as very impressive. The variation of the songs can be described as very good, it is a lot of depth in this album and plenty of variation; they keep the playing time rather sensible as well. I would claim that this is a real quality production and that they have taken big strides since Immortalia and they were already then one of the most interesting symphonic power metal bands out there in the world.

Four years have made Sound Storm into a real force to be reckoned with and their new album is definitely one of the best released in 2016. Vertigo offers something really impressive, it is great symphonic power metal with some forward thinking meaning that they sound very fresh and exciting. The arrangements, the songs, everything is great on this album and I don’t think it has any weaknesses – not any worth mentioning anyway. I find this to be very appealing and when it comes to making symphonic power metal I think you will have to look very long and very hard to find anything that rivals these guys.

There are some standout songs on this album like Vertigo, The Dragonfly, Metamorphosis, Forsaken, Original Sin, The Ocean, Spiral, Gemini, Alice, The Last Breath, yeah that’s about all of them and they are all standout tracks on a real standout album. I think there are only two albums released this year that actually beats this one so I recommend that you take a very close at it, it is well worth procuring. So, lets get some vertigo, you can’t do much better than this.
