This Sanguine British quartet are releasing their second album entitled Black Sheep, it follows some three years after the debut album. So fans will have this as a reward for their patience, and we who notice this band for the first time will get to know this female fronted quartet. They are described as unique or something in that manner, and they come with high praises from the interweb reviewers – and we all know how credible they are.

Musically it is female fronted alternative metal, heavy, powerful, diverse, pretty complex some female vocals, a bit of screams and growls and such. Very strong production and interesting from a creative standpoint, I think that this album can be described as a very strong production with good variation. Another tick on the plus count for this album is the short playing time; you will clearly not have time to grow bored with it. But is it any good then, sound, vocalist and production is one thing, it is the songs it is all about.

And the first song is absolutely brilliant. I really enjoy that opening track; it sets a great tone for the album. But then, you do not know how many times I have wished that an album should be able to deliver more songs near the quality of the opening track. This album is one of those that opens great but the further it plays the more I find my interest for it is waning, the end feels almost empty, in fact what follows track three does. I find that a bit of a shame as the album, and the band, shows such amazing promise with a fresh and fairly unique sound and all, they are just somewhat let down by their songs. It is not that their songs are bad or anything but something makes it very difficult for me to get excited about them.

Besides the opening track I think that the third track Empty is quite good as well while the rest of the album only gains a fleeting glance from my gaze, it is good but not really that fantastic. It is an album worth checking out, some of you will probably find this very interesting – I like the album but not enough to give it any of our highest rating but Breaking Out is a brilliant track.
