Spike and his British Choirboys are back with their tenth offering in a career spanning over three decades. That is impressive and there wasn’t any shortage of interviews and quotes from said Spike and some were interesting like the fact that they for this album decided not to make any ballads for this album. Another interesting thing I read was about poor reviews where Spike stated that he didn’t bother with negative reviews as he claimed that the reviewers didn’t get them; I love how modern people leave put aspects of the world to suit their reality – couldn’t it be that some with more negative views actually have a point? If you aren’t open to criticism you will never learn.

Musically it is bluesy hardrock music, simple and straight to the point. Not so much variation but pretty good energy and feel to the album. Fans of the band will clearly know their favourite band as they sound more or less like before, something that is usually the point with bands like these: don’t scare your fans with surprises seems to be the motto. And if there is anything this album is completely without it is surprises, and ballads. The production is modern and good, it is an easy album to get into but as it doesn’t offer that much depth it is also one that you grow tired of rather quickly.

So, maybe Spike shouldn’t bother with what I think but I think they do rather well, I have a harder time seeing the relevance in another album like this – unless it is to please the fans who will probably applaud one more very similar album. If you are one of their fans this album comes highly recommended, the rest of us probably already have enough similar albums in our record collection and I see not point in adding this one, even though I think it is a good album with ten good tracks.

I think the first and the last tracks on this album are the best ones on this album, an album that I find pretty amusing but also one that I fear I will forget pretty soon. They do not offer enough originality and excitement to make any lasting impression but as moment of entertainment it works quite well.

HHHHHHH
