Finnish band Montage seems to be metamorphosing, at least if we are to believe the title. I cannot really say whether or not it so as I have yet to hear their debut album from a few years ago, they have however changed the vocalist since then so perhaps it could sound a little different. Although I wouldn’t exactly describe this album as something that makes anyone raise an eyebrow, their style can be described as rather familiar and not particularly exciting.

Kind of a classic rock album with some progressive undertones, it feels like a journey already travelled by many before them. I can’t colour myself very excited by what I hear on this album. It works, the production is good but that is another thing from this album that does not make you raise an eyebrow. The vocalist is pretty decent though, as is the variation and for those into slightly progressive classically styled rock music will probably like this, it presses the right buttons for them.

I think that this is a solid album, and I would describe it as good albeit I have some reservations for the slight lack of originality. And the lack of something really ear catching is another slight issue but overall I think that it is a solid album, a good one. There are many things to like, perhaps mostly for nostalgic reasons and perhaps less so for the sheer quality of the album. An album that in all its goodness is still very easy to loose interest with it and start thinking about other things, like just now when I lost track of this review as I started thinking of what was up next instead of focusing on the album itself.

In the end I find this to be a strong album with good songs, Reptiles is probably the best one of the nine. Nostalgia fanatics will find this album good, it is a solid effort but it will hardly earn any significant notification in the history books of rock music. It works and it a while of good entertainment but it is soon forgotten.
