Swedish ghosts of the mind are back once again, back with their second album that they call The Anti-Citizen. An album that kind of looks to be similar to an album like Fear in the Dark judging by the cover, and having an ex Iron Maiden guy as guest vocalist on one of the tracks doesn’t really detract from that parable. Musically it is more towards that former Maiden guy’s current stuff than said album by Iron Maiden, so for heavy metal fans I think it can be described as interesting. And another funny thing is that it being released near Halloween with a Halloween looking artwork which makes it exciting.

Heavy metal of classic style is what we have here, powerful music with classic riffs and melodies, distinctive choruses and just about anything you can expect fro music within the heavy metal genre. And we get powerful vocals with a vocalist that has a strong voice, kind of similar to the guest vocalist Blaze Bayley. Something that makes the choice of guest musician rather strange, I think a vocalist with a voice that is more different compared with the ordinary vocalist would have given some more dynamics. But while vocalists might not be very dynamic, the songs are and show a decent variation over the ten tracks we get on the album.

Strong album, with great tracks and albeit it may not be the most innovative it is still personal enough to avoid being just another dull heavy metal clone. I like this one as it has so much to offer in its great power and energy. As I stated before all the tracks are good but the one about the MS Estonia disaster called My Last Breath where Blaze Bayley does guest vocals is my favourite. The opening track is another one that I like, but all of them are very strong and several of them are potential hit tracks.

In the end I think the only conclusion about this album is that it is one that is worth checking out, I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys great music. You could say that this Anti-Citizen will be a great citizen in record collection city.
