Swiss band of chefs called Charles return to the kitchen for a new concoction where they slice, cook, taste & thrill. It is their second effort, their first was released last year and it was a fairly tasty treat and this one is cooked up in a similar way. They crush some classic rock album, some energy, a pinch of salt, and a good measure of attitude; I think they could have included originality in their list of contents to make it tastier. It is a rather familiar creation the fry, grill and boil together in most regards, both for those who know their rock music and for those who know this band’s earlier work.

If we put this on our plate and play it we get some classic rock music with good energy and feeling. I think they have taken a step forward compared with their debut work; the music has more interesting qualities this time. Still, it is an album that has you going over the recommended dosage of rock music pretty quickly so it is fortunate that you are not getting too much of it.

I think Charles does well and fans of the band’s debut album and classic rock music will find this a very appealing album. For my view as a critic I still think they lack one crucial ingredient, originality. It is easy to make something rather good when using tried and tested things but safe, tried and tested usually don’t make for memorable stuff – like what happens with this album.

I can’t complain about this band’s cooking, they slice and cook very well but they should be bolder with the seasoning and ingredients. It could have been more exciting but I have no doubt that the fans of Charles’ cooking will find this new concoction most tasteful – bring out the fork and knife!
