Dutch rockers of Sin7Sins don't seem to be much in favour of good-looking cover artworks considering the look of their latest two albums. They also seem to be releasing their album every two years, this is their third album with their first two being released in 2010 and 2012 and this one late last year. The quartet has once again enlisted the services of renowned Swedish producer Dan Swanö to mix and produce the album that they have given the title Purgatory Princess.

It is kind of a Dutch thing with female fronted gothic metal bands like this one and several others, though I would say that these guys are a bit more on the rock side and perhaps should be described as somewhat more American than Dutch. The music is heavy yet melodic and singer Lotus has a good drive in her voice, a very strong rock voice I would say. Well produced album, the sound is very solid, the variation is good and the album plays for a decent playing time of just over 40 minutes so they keep everything short and to the point. It is definitely a quality production.

Good thing is also that the band seems to have found their own way in the metal world, and that my friends isn’t the easiest thing to do. I think you can describe this as a quality album overall, the songs are all very good and the album has no real weaknesses and is an album that you can enjoy time and time again. I think they all do a very good job on all points and they distance themselves enough from the last album to remain interesting, but not to the point that they have lost the identity they built before, it is just a fresh Sin7Sins album that is well worth recommending.

There are many good points to report about this album, all the songs are very good. The three strongest ones are the opener Heart of Stitches, the fifth track No Tears Left and the sixth track Bittersweet Dreams. It is definitely an album I think you should have a good look at, as it is very good. Ugly cover, attractive music is a good way to summarise this album.
