This Belgian band seem to be playing from several decks, at least six of them considering how many acez they have managed to find for their band name. Redemption Waves is the second album from this quartet who has been around since 2010 even though it was a somewhat different band back when it all started. They are sold as a rock sensation and such things, grand words from the label, that is something that can be negative for a band if they cannot deliver. Their second album has a cool cover art with cogwheels and stuff, looks kind of technical, like they are something from a well-oiled machine.

And that latter parable could actually be considered as their music is well oiled, catchy, energetic, simplistic and straight to the point. They seem to be dead set on not making things overly complicated and the songs are very easy to take in and I doubt they will alienate any listener for being to complex. That can of course backfire a little considering that the songs lack a little bit of depth for being so simplistic. Rock ‘n’ roll for the one liking it simple and to the point, the singer is quite genre typical and the production is a bit rough around the edges. Ten tracks and not that much variation over a playing time of 45 minutes, that is a thing that can be a little bit problematic considering that the album feels a bit long.

It is a pretty good album; it has some great energy and catchiness. I think that no one can blame them for being original because not much is original about this album and therefore it is really hard to say much about it as unoriginal bands tend to be difficult to think of things to say about. It is just straightforward rock music without any complicated stuff; people who like this kind of music will probably like this one as well.

The album is best at the beginning with the opening track as the real highlight of the album; it sort of gets more tired towards the end of the album. Maybe the album should have been a bit shorter to really suit my tastes but then again I am not that much of a rocker either. If your preference is simple straightforward rock music, this is your thing.
