What is it with the extreme metal bands and vomit, killing, murder, maiming, avulsions, and all of that crap? Is it because they are like pubertal children wanting to see the goriest movies and thinks it is cool when it is more disgusting and that sort of thing. It is a mystery to me, this band call themselves Vomitile and their second album is called Mastering the art of Killing which is an art that no one in this world should master. Why this obsession with killing? They are from Cyprus, and they are not twelve-year-olds like I thought they were. But what about their album then, is it anything worth listening to?

If you like death metal it could be. ”pure old school death metal with some melodic elements. Superb deathly growls and thunderous drumming along with fierce riffing make this release a must for any devoted death metal fan!” so says the label in the mail that contained the files to this album. Old-school is correct, melodic elements is what I can say as well. Superb growls, really? Where are those? I must have missed them. Drummings are dull and the production is what you can expect from this kind of album. I guess one can conclude that they are avid readers of the Death Metal for Dummies book, all what old school death metallers should have in accordance with their laws is there, so they will not risk time in heaven which is prison and torture for these kinds of people and where they send those who break the commandments of the genre.

Variation is not a forte of these guys all the songs of the album sound more or less the same and you cannot imagine how many times I suffer through stuff like this, not only in this genre but in any genre. Unimaginative and dreary excuses for albums are quite commonplace and though you want to say and think positive of all, it just isn’t always possible because some albums don’t have much in terms of redeeming features. This album isn’t that bad in one regard, the songs are just boring but not vomit-inducing which is the most positive thing I can muster up when writing about this album.

My recurring question is why? Why just copy-paste some other band’s ideas and write some new lyrics on the same theme? Why the juvenile attitude vomit and killing? Why so dull vocals? Why? It is just one of those albums that fails to catch your attention. I would conclude that maybe you could find this alright of you are a fan of this kind of music, if you’re musical favouritism are wider than that it is not really something to waste your time with. Maybe it belongs where the vomit belongs, guess it is time to head for the toilet as I’ve had more than enough of childish ridiculousness for today.
