This is another one of those albums, a Swedish band with the roots in a band called Sonic Syndicate from where one guy left due to musical differences. He then formed this band to continue making music that he had originally thought of for said Syndicate. I think you can deduce from the few sentences I have already written as to how these guys will sound even before you play the videos below this text. The answer is that they sound just the same as everything else, but of course there is more to it than just that statement. This is the second album of this band, but they have already managed a sort of best of boxset which seems a bit premature.

Musically it is modern melodic death metal with clean and growly vocals, the growly vocals are really poor, the clean vocals are the same as most others in the genre. The keyboards are very prominent and the music is quite melodic overall, good production and some of the melodies are excellent. Not much variation though and the eleven tracks that plays for 46 minutes and a bit feels almost like an eternity towards the end of the album, I don’t like eternities. The album tends to get quite dull towards the end of the album and that isn’t really a positive thing, rather the opposite.

I find this album positive in the melodies and the good production but very negative in terms of creativity and the lack of originality but also the lack of good songs. To be honest, I find this album quite uninteresting, it lacks finesse and sense of direction. It sounds like an album from a band trying to emulate what has already been done by others. This album’s problem is that it sounds like anything and everything already out there and it has neither the originality or the quality to set it apart from that stuff meaning that it is a pointless album made by a fairly pointless band. Of course they could evolve and by doing so become relevant but today they aren’t.

I find it hard to think of things to say about this album, pointless and not very good would have been enough of a review. Best song is the first one, not that it is too brilliant but it is a bit less boring than the rest of the album. So, The Unguided’s Fragile Immortality is not a masterpiece, very far from it and I would say that if you like melodic death metal you should look elsewhere for your next album because this isn’t it.
