Greek/American band Outloud has never really impressed me that much, they have been acceptable but nothing more. Now they are getting serious with their third album that features a sexy cover artwork with some exhilarating skyscrapers towering towards the sky. This cover art is much better than last time around. They have spiced up the drumming with a Nile drummer doing the recorded drums for the album and a guy from Adrenaline Mob doing a guest solo. Maybe they are evolving into something exciting?

Well, musically it is no real surprises, it is AOR/melodic hardrock with great production and a sound that is as good as one has come to expect from the genre. The singer with the name Mogel is better than I have ever heard him before, his vocals really suit the songs well. The variation is no surprise, it is what you can expect from an album like this making the 54 minute playing time a bit on the long side. Though I think that we can overall conclude that this s a solid and very well made album that shows a band that has taken a leap forward in musical competence.

But not only that, they have written some sharper songs as well. This album certainly is appealing, sure it does not break any new musical ground or anything but it is a solid album that comes out very strongly. Sure, I will most likely not listen to it anymore now that I am done with it but that does not change the fact that this is a good album. I think they have come a long way since last time around, and that without changing the very soul of their music as anyone knowing them from before will still recognise them for who they are. It is just that they are a better version of themselves.

Will I recommend the album then? this is what you ask when you have gotten this far in the text, mainly because I asked it but also because it is a valid question. I would have to answer both yes and no depending on your outlook on this kind of music. If you like what Outloud has done before, then yes. Do you like melodic rock? then I would say yes as well, with some hesitation though. Otherwise you don’t really need bothering with this album, it is good but so is many albums and there are many that are better than this. Still, it is very strong in its best moments and best of all are the opening Death Rock! which is a rocker and ending Enola Gay which is a very explosive cover song. I like this album as it is great in its best moment but the overall impression is a bit less enthusiastic.
