According to producer Jens Bogren who mixed and mastered this and Nami’s previous album, the debut album of Nami was “the best hidden secret of 2011”. This time they have gone one better according to the same man. This is the second album by the band from Andorra, a different nation in metal I would say, it has a decent cover and a very long title. It has nine tracks and it has a little over fifty minutes of playing time, and it has a fair bit to live up to considering that its predecessor was quite an impressive debut that promised a lot. So it wasn’t without some expectation I got into this album.

A lot remains the same with this new album, the massive soundscape, the high level of variation in the songs, the many musical paths the album traverse. It is not as psychedelic as the previous, it is more coherent that last time and the story blends together nicely, I don’t know if it is a story but it is a journey, that’s for sure. It is a really well produced album, the soundscapes are impressive and the sound is great, even better produced that the debut which was really well produced. Maybe the songs themselves aren’t that varied in between themselves but they sort of blend together into a mixture of musical paths that are quite varied.

I like the album a lot, it is better than the debut. I think that it should have been a bit more dynamic in order to touch the best of bands. I enjoy to listen to it, I enjoy it a lot and I don’t think those small reservations I have really detracts from the sheer quality of this album. I would say that it is an impressive piece of music and I can recommend it to anyone who likes the genre, the Nami debut or Opeth, or anyone who just wants their music somewhat different from what is the norm today.

Nami has managed to stamp their mark on their music and their genre, these guys have managed to create something unique, something exciting, something that differs from the norm which is something fairly unique today when most bands emulate their idols. On this album no song really stands out over the rest, the songs hold a general high level and I would describe it as a very impressive piece of music that I will probably return to from time to time.

I think that we in the end can conclude that these guys continue to impress, and they do so fairly greatly. Be sure to look them up, it will be worth it.

HHHHHHH
