White cover is good, pink text is also good but the cover looks quite poor. This mother loving band is a swiss trio who look to transfer their onstage energy to a studio recording. That in itself doesn’t sound too bad, does it? we all love good energy. So what about this ape project, is it bound to signal the end of humanity or something else? As far as I know this is a debut album from a young band but it was a tad vague on that front but as their own website don’t list a discography I think we can assume that it is like that.

Mathcore, metalcore, progressive such is what the label or the promotors sells it as. That might be what it is, it is quite chaotic with high energy and lots of variation. They even do some piano in one of the tracks. The vocals are poor and boring, the production is modern and okay but nothing fancy and nothing that stands out from the pack. The tracks are often short and there is a ”blink and you’ll miss it” kind of style to it. There are eighteen tracks on 30 minutes, a touch of punk can be said to be present as well. I think the short playing time is a positive considering that most will grow bored with the chaos if it were any longer, well most will probably become bored even before they reach the 25-minute mark.

Nah, this isn’t any good. The chaos is not in a good way, as it seems more like they are lacking direction and a genuine idea for what they are doing rather than anything else. However we should say that the usual suspects are giving high ratings as usual but I really don’t think I have missed a trick here as those reviewers are mostly worthless and lacks critical thinking anyway. All is not useless though, they do have some ideas that might have worked but they do not quite pull them off. I think that maybe longer and slightly less ill-conceived tracks could have worked, maybe they didn’t spend enough time thinking it through. A mean reviewer might imagine that it took them less time to write the songs than it took to play through them.

Yeah, I am not impressed but those who like the genre might be and I think that the piano thing, a 50 second track is quite strong and the second to last track is also good. The rest is uninspiring and too chaotic to really be something that I would like to listen to. I am actually quite pleased to be done with it now, not that it is awful but it is draining to listen to it. I guess this project won’t receive any funding from this reviewer.

HHHHHHH
