Lichtenstein is probably more known for their banking system than for their musical exports. One band that looks to change that is the quartet Etta Zero who are releasing their debut album in 2014. They have been releasing two EPs before this one, both under the Downfall moniker. They have since then changed their name to Etta Zero and are now staring the darkness in the face with the finite sunset, at least before seeing one at another place, maybe by another sun. Something like that if I am to believe song titles, the album title and the intriguing cover artwork. This album looks exciting from the surface.

It is exciting musically as well. It offers a mixture of influences blended into one very good production which features some traces of synthpop, alternative rock, a bit of grunge, maybe some progressive stuff and maybe a bit of metal as well. I think it is a very interesting concoction that blends together really well into a coherent unity. With variation it retains interest during the entire playing time of 55 minutes. Quite powerful and atmospheric with a good singer I would say, Alter Bridge is a namedropping name that can be used for anyone who wants references. Not that I thought of that, I got my similar bands from this band’s reverbnation site. I think they sound like much I have heard, yet unlike most I have heard, it is a band who’s songs doesn’t make you think of other band’s songs, which is always refreshing for a seasoned critic.

I really enjoy this album, it is dark yet with a glimmer of hope. It brings my mind towards a great adventure into uncharted territory. It is a though provoking album, it has depth and it has all the elements I think a good album should have. It might be early to proclaim myself a fan of this band but I am definitely a fan of this album which has some really memorable moments and only strong songs. Etta Zero definitely offers impressive stuff, I think anyone who likes great music and looks for something that is not your everyday run of the mill stuff. These guys definitely puts Lichtenstein on the musical map, it deserves a mark for this quartet.

Anymore is the brilliant standout track, or the standoutest track at least with brilliant chorus and excellent song overall, I really love that one. But there’s more, like Etta Zero which is a catchy thing and the ending Heaven is Closer is an excellent musical number. I think that you should take a closer look at this album, it is an exciting journey that is well worth taking. It might even take you closer to heaven, but now I will sit down and await the last of all sunsets. I hope it will be as interesting and beautiful as the album. Don’t miss it.
