I often get pretty heavy criticism from fans of brutal death metal that doesn't understand why I review band like this if I don't like the music. I'll answer to that criticism here before I go on pissing you off again with another review, but I think it should be pretty clear to people that I don't like to criticize music. I love music, it's one of the most important things in my life and one of the cruelest things that could happen to me would be to go deaf. That would be terror on a serious level. But every kind of music isn't good music and taste of music are like assholes - everyone has one.

It's true that I don't like brutal death metal and it's true that I probably shouldn't review this kind of music since I seriously don't like it and I really don't enjoy listening to it, but here comes the problem. I think I've made it very clear in all my years reviewing this kind of noise that I don't like it. I've never given this kind of music more than a couple of points - most of them ends up at the very bottom and only a very odd number gets above 2/7. Still, the labels keep sending me these albums. They know I hate it (or ought to know) but they still send it to us and you tell me - is it fair to ignore them if they send me the albums and expect me to review them? They want the albums to be marketed and seen so people know they're released. If I don't review them I'll do them more harm than any negative review, so no - that would be irresponsible.

So, despite I don't like this music I get these albums so I review them. And I know I'm far from the only one that really don't like albums that sounds like brutal death metal albums do and you as fans and bands really shouldn't be surprised by the fact that people don't like it. Seriously. You might get offended by the things I say or write but if you are truthfully surprised that someone has this opinion something is seriously wrong with you - of course the majority of music fans and even metal fans think this is shit and that's probably one of the things you're most proud of for liking this kind of "music" - you're the odd couple. You're a minority. You're one of the few that "understands" all the things that makes this music great and you would definitely not have liked it if this was the music that was played on the radio and everyone liked it because that would take away a feature for your personality - the misunderstood.

So why are you so upset about my negative reviews? Can't I criticize the music you like if I, and most people with me, don't like it? Can't someone write a negative review if he's honest about it? I'm not Hanna Montana, nor am I Justin Bieber or Mariah Carey or whatever other character some of you label me as because I don't share your opinion about this "music". I like music very much, I think when instruments and vocals interplay to create emotions of all kinds, no matter what, then that's music fulfilling it's purpose as music. Something that just keeps hammering all instruments as heavily and fast as the people behind them can and then have a vocalist just shouting straight out in the air… that doesn't do anything for me but annoy me. Sure annoyance is an emotion too, but I really don't want to feel that emotion more than necessary. It's so easy to get annoyed anyway, just interact with other people. Annoyance will then come quickly, I promise you that.

The reason why I just don't trash the albums of brutal death metal and ignore I even get them is simple - people have gone through sometimes a lot of work (and money) making sure I get those albums. I can't just ignore them. And I can't just be dishonest and say "they are great" when I don't think so. I'm not buying these albums or illegally downloading them just so I could criticize the bands. I really don't want these albums because if I only got good music, then it would be so much more fun to review music. Unfortunately far from every album released are good. And hence you sometimes get negative reviews - at least if you're a serious reviewer and I am.

With that said, I just want to apologize to Wormed for wasting their review space talking about these things but if I had spent time talking about the music I would just have kept writing how bad I think it is when you keep banging all instruments into each other as fast as you can and have the sounds of a tortured dog playing as vocals on top of that. I don't know if that had been better, probably more fun though and that's the way we try to make negative reviews… at least you might have a laugh at them. If you're a fan of brutal death metal and still don't get why people don't like what you like and how I can write so many negative reviews about it… well, then that's just sad. Just like this album… a sad experience, that someone would waste the energy not only to create it but to release it and then send it to me as well… it's a sad sad situation…
