The previous album review published today spoke of complex genius and visionary thinkers, calling a band Tuxedo can be seen as a visionary thought out name. Fancy clothing does not appear to be the thing though, at least judging by the cover art which is not very impressive in my mind. But the visionary thinking comes through again and does so in the genre, they have invented a new one called Alpencore. What the hell is that? you may ask and it wouldn’t be wrong to ask as I doubt that we really need any more genres than has already been invented.

So what is Alpencore then? Well, I guess it is as simple as metalcore from The Alps as that is exactly what it is. Quite standardised modern metalcore, nothing fancy or exciting there and the visionary thinking is not apparent here. Maybe it was all used up to create the name and the genre, the sound and production is modern metalcore. It is no better or worse than most of the genre bands that has appeared of late. Not very impressed by the originality of these guys, although they have a familiar song in the list in Jimi Jamison’s I’m Always Here which was heard in the opening credit for the television series Baywatch. The album has thirteen tracks and plays for just over 45 minutes with not that much in terms of variation.

Unoriginal! I exclaim that, this album is unoriginal and boring. I am not very impressed but then I doubt I am in their targeted audience. I do like some metalcore but like all modern extreme metal the genre is a bit oversaturated with bands doing music according to a standard format and that is what these guys are doing. I think it sounds like a music made to sound like an artist rather than something from an artists creative mind. I am not impressed by this at all, sure it is decently mad and not overly bad, just a bit dull and unimaginative.

If you do like metalcore, you might find this worth at least checking out. If you have a broader taste in music then I doubt you will find this very satisfactory. Because to be honest, not even the Jamison cover can save that even though I think it would have been more fun to have this version as the Baywatch intro song. I would rather wear a tuxedo than listening to one.
