Anywhere but here? I wonder if they came up with the title when visiting the Bonafide show that was filmed to make their recent DVD, I would have thought so as it is terrible but more about that at a later time. The Secondarys are a Swedish punk band who are out with their debut album which states a desire to be somewhere else than the present location. That is a feeling most of us have, I have it when meeting people who like Apple products or people who think a big white lens is capable of macro photos of pebbles on the moon. Stupid people that is. But what about these guys who so graciously sent me a CD which I have played in my car for a while, I would say that it is an excellent album to increase the carbon emission which I gladly do. After all that is why I bought that car, to burn fuel.

This album is happy, tempo laden punkrock with good feel and energy, and it is melodic as well. The sound is good and the album feels well made, albeit it is not at all original in any sense of the way just simple and to the point melodic punk rock. So, if you know the genre you can pinpoint how these guys sound, for good or bad. A decent variation for a punk rock album can be heard in the thirteen songs which are all short with only two breaking the three minute barrier. The album itself is somewhere just over the thirty minute mark which is a playing time it can pull off, easily.

The problem with this album is that when you start to get to know it, it is nothing new, nothing particularly exciting which is a bit unfortunate. I think it is fairly good but I have heard it all before so it doesn’t feel too exciting in the longer run but of course if all you use it for is music for the road then you’ll probably not care about that. It is excellent background music, and I doubt any punkrocker will dislike it. If they do, they are most likely strange punkrockers. So, it is enjoyable but not really exciting.

In the end there is not too much I can say about this album, it is what it is: a good punk rock album, no more and no less. It is a likeable album but it leaves a bit to be desired in the uniqueness department. Perhaps it is for the next time, I stamp this CD with my approved mark.
