Grime is a style of music that emerged from Bow, East London, England in the early 2000s, primarily as a development of UK garage, dancehall, and hip hop. Pioneers of the style include Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, and Roll Deep. The definition of the word grime is dirt, soot, or other filthy matter, especially adhering to or embedded in a surface. Maybe you can guess which of these two who inspired the name of Italy’s Grime, yeah the latter wasn’t very likely, was it? They are described to have begun their miserable existence in Trieste, Italy in 2010 as four kids who were obsessed with and addicted to the heavy and filthy sounds banded together to create something dark and terrible.

And something Terrible they did create at least when looking at the sound because this is actually painful to listen to, with that I mean physically painful. The vocals sounds like someone pulling his/her nails along a blackboard, it sounds exactly like that. The guitar sound is muffled and strange like it was recorded in a pool, under water, after all equipment had been short circuited by the water and killed the musicians in the process. It sounds like that, I am serious. The overall sound is fuzzy and it sounds almost like something dug out during an archeological dig of Mesopotamia or something in that region, like it is full of dirt and decomposing organic material. There are six tracks on the album and they play for around thirty minutes, and even if the sound is like vomit there can still be something good about this album.

And there is, the cover artwork is really intriguing and looks good. There are also some ideas hidden there beneath a surface of something bloody awful. But this album sounds just god awful in every sense of they way, suffering through it is painful and that is not in a psychic way but physically painful to listen to. It is like sanding your ears until the skin is all gone and you are filing down the bones that remain when all the skin, blood and tissue is filed away. Torture is something I can think of when hearing this album, if the americans had this to use on the wrongfully imprisoned in Guantanamo base they surely would have more confessions as you are after half an hour of Grime ready to confess that you are Hitler and it was your fault that the disaster in Fukushima happened.

Sure, there is probably one guy that thinks I am wrong and sends me a mail saying that I don’t understand, and possibly I don’t. But then again, if you are that guy, why should I believe you? you’re Hitler. Look in the mirror if you don’t believe me. So, if you are Hitler, or just some guy who likes self-torture then this might be your thing. I on the other hand have to turn it off now before I confess to sinking the Titanic.
