Hallowed history

Observe that this text is old, as old as the website and has never been updated, we expect it to be updated with new information soon after we have finished the changes to the site.

Hallowed begun in august 2002 – which makes the relaunch exactly five years after the first launch since this happens in 2007, the same month. The magazine hasn't been active all this time, it was put on ice between september 2004 and mars 2006 and again between may 2006 until february 2007. That means that half of the magazine's life has been on ice, that doesn't make it less interesting to know that Hallowed now has become Hallowed 2 and surfaces as a bilingual magazine, that is distributd worldwide through our website www.hallowed.se

How it all begun

As mentioned previously it all started in 2002, when the 17 year-old Caj Källmalm realized that interresting metal magazines were at a loss in Sweden. There were some but he felt none of them was completely genuine and well-made. This is the place to point out that we are all children in the beginning, so was Hallowed as well it had its flaws, however it was quickly changed. The first issue was almost completely made by Caj himself except for a few reviews and interviews. However, the writer number quickly rose and so did the quality since the workload softened slightly.

The first five issues made rose from selling in three stores in Östersund, Sweden, to bigger areas and featuring big names like Helloween, Queensrÿche, Nightwish, Anthrax, Hammerfall, Manowar, In Flames and so forth. A sixth issue was also made before the adventure ended, a real collectors item for the interested one.

Why have Hallowed diead and rescurrected?

As with every legend, Hallowed has both died and been rescurrected (just like Jesus, Jack Sparrow and Homer Simpson). From the beginning the magazine was nothing more then a pure hobby project at fanzine level. That is also the reason for the demise - we became too big for our own good. It became more serious then we could prepare for and when the choice became to become fully professional or cancel, we had no co-workers who wanted to give the project a go; therefore we couldn't continue.

For the creator, enthusiast and the leades Caj Källmalm it has always been the music, the writing and the writing about the music, that was the life. Therefore, his goal has always been to make this as big as it can - it has always been the goal wheter or not the magazine has been active. During the time Hallowed has been on ice, Caj has graduated and educated himself within the area so he now knows exactly what to do. Now - a few years older, a few experiences richer and a legion of university classes later, he is more then ready for the task then ever before - and absolutely capable of doing it. Finally, Hallowed may become what it always had for goal - to be the biggest magazine within its area of expertise!

With a thought-through strategy and plan, and with a bigger financial situation , better writers and above all with experience in the area Hallowed will in its new format - with more content and without the limitation of anything that a magazine is made from - become the biggest, the best and the most interesting musical Magazine in the world!
